On Sunday afternoon, the FDNY, in conjunction with the NYPD 66th Precinct, hosted the Boro Park community for a Chanukah Menorah lighting event, at the FDNY Engine 282/Ladder 148 at 12th Ave.

Those who joined had a unique chance to meet with the firefighters, learn about Chanukah fire safety, and more. The community and its leadership expressed their appreciation to the brave men and women of the FDNY.

The event was joined by FDNY First Deputy Commissioner Mark Guerra and Chief of Department John Esposito; Frum legislators: Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, Assemblyman-Elect Kalman Yeger; NYPD Captain Kenneth Herrarte, Assistant Chief Charles McEvoy, Patrol Borough Brooklyn South; Frum NYPD Deputy Chief Richie Taylor, Community Board 12 members, Rabbi Joel Eisdorfer, Rabbi Berish Freilich, and R’ Yakov Eisdorfer.

At the event, Boro Park Shomrim honored Kenneth Herrarte, the Commanding Officer of the 66th Precinct, with a special award

Last week, Williamsburg NYPD and FDNY hosted the community for a similar Chanukah event with community leaders and askanim joining in.
